Abbott Ireland Diagnostics Division - Sligo
Established in 1994 AIDD Sligo has grown to employ over 360 staff in June 2004, this will increase to approximately 600 by 2006. We currently manufacture blood-screening products in an ISO9001: 2000 and ISO 13485:2003 certified environment. Manufacturing is divided into two key areas - Bulk Reagent Operations (BRO) and Diagnostic Reagent Operations (DRO). The BRO process involves large-scale production of Haematology screening and diluent buffers for use on the Abbott CELL DYN'¥ and AxSYM'¥instruments.
The DRO process manufactures Hepatitis and Retrovirus diagnostic detection kits for Hepatitis A, B & C and HIV for use in Abbott AxSYM'µ and IMx'µ instrument platforms. As a result of the further growth in Sligo, the product portfolio will expand to include additional Hep/Retro products and new diagnostic kits for the identification of viral markers associated with Congenital defects and for Cancer markers associated with prostate, testicular, breast, ovarian and digestive tract cancers. These assays will introduce the Abbott Architect'¥ platform to the Sligo site.
