Technical Support Manager

Technical Support Manager will provide technical engineering support for all aspects of manufacturing encompassing new product introduction, day-to-day technical support of existing processes/products & evaluation of new technology and new approaches relevant to existing & future production activities.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise and technical engineering support to all manufacturing and control system related issues. Tasks include, daily trouble-shooting, process optimisation, technical review of process issues and increased efficiency via continuous improvement measures
Leadership, direction and goal setting for Technical Support team members, currently comprising of a team of 4-6 chemists & engineers.
Coaching, direction & supervision of all Technical Support team activities with emphasis on training plans and personnel development
Planning, co-ordination and leadership of technical transfers for future product introductions
Active collaboration between technical support team and R&D groups to ensure successful new product introductions and technical transfer activities
Co-ordination of all commissioning and validation activities during projects
Identification, execution, project management and delivery of continuous improvement projects
Preparation of feasibility studies, capital estimates and schedules for future new product introductions Departmental budgeting as delegated by the Technical Operations manager
Project Management of small to medium scale capital projects
Coaching and training of manufacturing personnel on technical/ engineering elements to increase knowledge sharing
Ensure adequate & effective cross-site communication of Technical Support activities
Education:
An Honours degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering OR a relevant degree in a similar Scientific discipline with 4-5 yrs Chemical/Process Engineering experience
PHD qualification an advantage
Minimum of 7-10 years experience. Background in engineering/manufacturing, with relevant experience of batch processing, automation, technical transfers, commissioning and validation in the pharmaceutical industry is essential.
Experience in API Manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Previous experience/involvement with EMEA and FDA inspections
Experience of start-ups and/or new product introductions to pharmaceutical facilities. Must be able to lead these activities in a start-up environment.
People management experience with similar team size is advantageous.
