Bioprocess Scientist

Key Responsibilities Provide leadership for technology transfer of Biological Molecules to the manufacturing facilities To ensure consistency of initial manufacture, the role involves “on the floor” technical support for initial production campaigns Join a team of Cell Culture function thought leaders within the wider organisation. Experience of industrial cell culture & of manufacturing processes using NS0 or CHO platforms. Have an in-depth knowledge of the science (including analytical) behind Biological therapeutic molecules and the processes used to manufacture them. Leadership skills both in terms of technical leadership and as part of a matrix organisation. Ability to critically assess complex issues and work towards proposals of solutions/decisions. Ability to understand the potential failure modes for the process and equipment and the application of trouble shooting skills related to manufacturing processes. Assist in the development of technical programmes (with sending site and support laboratory) to ensure successful transfer and validation of bioprocesses. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work with international partners and to build consensus amongst peer groups/project teams. Ability to work independently, self-prioritise and appreciation of when to escalate issues/tasks. Skilled in presenting complex issues to diverse audiences and to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
Experience and Knowledge 4-6 years experience in the development and/or manufacture of biological products using cell culture platforms with knowledge of the mammalian cell culture processes. Experience of technology transfer of processes to/from manufacturing Experience of working within international project teams an advantage. Excellent managerial and social skills such as highly developed skills in communication, conflict management and compromising.
Qualifications Post graduate qualification (PhD ideally) in natural sciences (biochem, biotech, biology) or Engineering (Chem, Biochem)
