HEA Publishes Strategic Plan 2012 - 2016
The HEA today (27th March 2012) launched its Strategic Plan 2012 – 2016. The plan was developed following a thorough consultation process with the HEA Board and Executive staff, the Department of Education and Skills and other stakeholders.
The plan reflects the roles for the HEA that are envisaged in the Government’s National Strategy for Higher Education. The plan identifies six key strategic objectives over the next five years, as follows:
- System Development
- Sustainability of Higher Education
- Policy and Planning
- Governance of Higher Education
- Excellence in Higher Education
- Strategic Programmes
For each of these strategic objectives, activities, timeframes and key performance indicators have been identified for which the HEA is accountable to the Minister for Education and Skills and his Department.
Mr. John Hennessy, Chairman of the HEA said “The HEA looks to the term of this plan with enthusiasm in meeting the challenges posed and in expectation of a sound and constructive relationship with the institutions and other stakeholders to deliver on a shared objective of excellence in outcomes for our students. We look forward, in particular, to operating to our expanded remit in leading change and encouraging innovation in and across a coherent system of higher education institutions”.
